Description
In a nutshell, Sophie Dumont transforms a library into a rhythm of shapes and colors. Three shelves organize the books, whose heights and inclinations introduce slight shifts. The spaces left between the groups give amplitude to the composition.
The cream, dusty rose, orange, and green bindings dialogue with deep blue, burgundy, and ochre tones. A horizontal stack, on the bottom shelf, interrupts the succession of verticals. No title is legible: the books suggest narratives whose content remains open.
The material, worked with oil in successive layers, retains the traces of the knife, the brush, and the scrapes. The earlier colors surface and give the volumes a presence that evokes use and memory. The title accompanies this restraint, this way of hinting without saying everything.
Series Libraries. Original signed work, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Natural wood box, ready to hang.
