Description
In “Les gardiens du savoir”, Sophie Dumont transcends the simple representation of books to offer a visual reflection on the preservation of collective memory. This painting, in a panoramic format, installs a meditative atmosphere thanks to a rigorous composition, where the edges of the books seem to dialogue with each other. Each book, endowed with rich textures and a patina evoking the passage of time, becomes both a door to the past and a witness to the present.
Neutral hues, ranging from soft beige to subtle blue, create a soothing harmony, while more pronounced touches of brown and black provide a visual anchor. The thick pictorial material, worked with a delicacy that is the artist’s signature, invites the viewer to linger on each detail, suggesting the secrets that these books could contain. is a work that invites contemplation, reminding us that knowledge is a fragile heritage to be protected.
