Description
With Reading Patterns, Sophie Dumont offers an abstract interpretation of the library, conceived as a structured mental space. The vertical lines evoke the spines of books, while the grid composition suggests order and repetition without ever becoming mere illustration.
The palette, dominated by off-whites and subtle grays, is punctuated by bolder tones—deep blues, ochres, blacks, and reds—which establish a controlled visual rhythm. The knife work reveals the texture and layers, highlighting the construction process of the piece.
Between regularity and slight variations, the canvas invites a slow and silent reading, where the structure becomes the support for a reflection on time, thought and memory.
