Born and educated solely through self-tutoring, Helder Batista now lives and works in Cahors as a self-employed artist specializing in self portraiture. Formerly working as an ambulance driver he was profoundly moved by society's disparate treatment of different populations within it.

Helder Batista employs transdisciplinary approaches such as sculpture, inclusions, neon, and installation to explore social phenomena and reveal them through sculpture, inclusions, neon, installation. As the creator of Flag Gun series (whereby weapons are wrapped with flags of nations taking up arms in defense of Constitution's 2nd American Amendment or religious beliefs). Through conducting social studies such as conducting sociological analyses; uncovering society complexities such as its deviances against globalization's excessive consumption or dominance... He doesn't offer explanations; rather leaves viewers to create their own perception allowing dialogues with him or artist himself...
