Monika Nowak, an innovative French artist of Polish descent born and currently living in Paris. She hails from Clermont-Ferrand but now calls Paris home. Nowak hails from an artistic family deeply ingrained in Polish arts (her mother performed in Krakow theater group); this rich cultural background along with iconic influences like Hitchcock films, rock music, fashion and science fiction literature has all had an effectful and significant effect on her creative direction.
Nowak boasts impressive academic credentials, having graduated from both Beaux-Arts and Ecole Superieur des Arts et Industries Graphiques (University of Graphic Arts) in Paris. Following her studies, Nowak moved on to becoming a Creative Director working for several global media groups honed her aesthetic vision while honing her craft. These professional experiences not only enhanced Nowak's artistic abilities but provided her with an outlet to express herself creatively.
Monika Nowak delves deep into contemporary femininity in her artwork, depicting female characters who embody both strength and fragility - qualities which define Monika Nowak's "sexy-pop" heroines. She creates vibrant and energetic characters who navigate epic universes where marvelous meets barbarous and where poetic meets aesthetic elements. Nowak's work draws heavily upon the Slavic spirit eloquently described by aesthetician Dominique Fernandez as souls that allow light from Heaven or God into their bodies--something aesthetician Dominique Fernandez describes as having light pass into them from both Heaven and God--evoking feelings of vulnerability yet audacity that make her work captivating, placing her at the forefront of contemporary art with pieces that capture viewer's interest while making us consider masculinity in modern society.
