Beschrijving
Black Rock is a black-on-black painting in which writing becomes texture. The upper part of the canvas is covered with raised, looping script, traced in thick paint so that the letters stand out in relief and catch the light. Below, grey and black paint runs down in long vertical drips, as if the words were dissolving. Armah’s acrylic on canvas invites the viewer to look closely and from different angles, where the surface reveals what a first glance does not.
