Beschrijving
In “Rythme des Strates”, Sophie Dumont explores the notion of depth and texture through a harmonious composition that captures the eye and the mind. This 60×60 cm oil painting presents a fascinating play of colors and shapes that seem to intertwine and overlap, evoking geological strata or natural landscapes seen from the sky.
The chromatic choices, oscillating between warm and cool hues, create a delicate balance, while the painting knife strokes bring a tactile richness and material that bring the work to life. Each layer seems to tell a story, and the interplay between the colors evokes feelings of movement and rhythm.
Sophie Dumont succeeds in evoking the duality of nature, where the stability of the layers collides with the fluidity of the colors. The gaze is naturally guided through the canvas, allowing the viewer to dive into a world where serenity and dynamism coexist. This work is not only a visual representation, but a sensory experience that invites contemplation.
As an art historian, it is important to note that the use of the painting knife, a less conventional technique, allows Dumont to stand out in the contemporary landscape. “Rythme des Strates” is an invitation to rediscover the beauty of natural elements while offering a reflection on how contemporary artists can reinterpret and redefine our perception of reality.
