Description
In the binding workshop, Sophie Dumont transforms a library into a composition located at the border of still life and abstraction.
The books become vertical forms rhythmized by the lines of the shelves. Natural tones — ivory, ochre, terracotta, powdered pink, and olive green — are crossed by two luminous blues that energize the whole and guide the eye.
Worked with a knife, the paint presents a generous and deliberately irregular texture, evoking the wear of old bindings and the familiar presence of volumes accumulated over time.
The canvas is presented in a black American box frame, which emphasizes its graphic architecture and accentuates the depth of the colors.
Original and unique work.
