Description
Blue Queen is a portrait built entirely from flat, clean shapes. A face in several shades of blue, framed by a mass of dark curly hair, looks out with large round eyes, while a small yellow star shines in the hair like a jewel. The shoulders and collar, in navy, grey and yellow, anchor the figure against a plain beige background. Painted in acrylic on canvas, the work plays with the codes of the portrait and of graphic design, combining a geometric construction with a strong, almost regal presence.
