Description
In the Axis of presences, Sophie Dumont builds an abstract architecture organized around a dark vertical line, a true spine of the composition. Around this axis, geometric shapes meet with contours sometimes rigorous, sometimes softened by the curve.
Deep reds, ochres, grayish blues, and dark earths stand out on an ivory background worked by strata. The shapes seem to approach, balance, or respond without ever freezing. Some evoke fragments of architecture, others signs or figures reduced to their essential presence.
The pictorial material, worked with a knife, preserves the traces of superimpositions, erasures, and reprises characteristic of Sophie Dumont’s work. It gives geometry a sensitive and almost organic dimension.
More than a simple formal construction, the Axis of presences explores the way autonomous elements can coexist around a common center. The composition thus reaches a tense balance between stability and movement, silence and intensity.
Framing: black floating frame included; natural wood available as an option at the same price.
