Description
The Trombonist explores the figure of the musician without ever literally representing it. A large sinuous form traverses the composition and evokes the movement of a wind instrument, while a central vertical structures the space and introduces a tension between balance and movement.
The curves, circles, and geometric blocks are organized like a score made of rhythms, silences, and accents. The palette associates deep reds, dull greens, bluish-greys, ochres, and warm whites. Successive layers, scrapes, and repetitions bring forth a living material, marked by the creative process.
Between geometric abstraction and suggested figuration, this work transforms musical breath into pictorial construction.
Original and unique work, oil on linen canvas, signed by Sophie Dumont and accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.
