Description
Méandres explores the relationships between curves and vertical planes in a composition where each form seems to open a passage to the next. Arches, semicircles, and colored bands draw a winding path, guiding the eye through the canvas. The ochres, terracotta, and muted greens dialogue with warm grays and ivory whites. Dark accents punctuate this ensemble, while the large light curves allow for breaths. The geometric construction thus maintains a flexibility, between stability and movement. Worked in successive layers with oil, the material reveals traces of scraping, variations in hues, and underlying colors. These irregularities give the forms a sensitive presence and nuance the rigor of their contours. Inscribed in the series “Interior Architectures,” this work by Sophie Dumont evokes an imagined space, whose turns and indentations are progressively discovered. Original and unique work, signed, presented in an American-style frame in natural wood, ready to hang. Dimensions without frame: 60 × 60 cm (23.62 × 23.62 inches).Dimensions framed: 67 × 67 cm (26.38 × 26.38 inches).
