Description
Partition is a 40 x 40 cm oil on canvas by Sophie Dumont, a French painter renowned for her layering of materials and her structured compositions. Framed in a natural wood American-style frame, this work reflects the artist’s recent exploration of geometric forms and visual rhythm.
Broad vertical bands interact with circles, punctuation marks, and graphic symbols that subtly evoke musical notation. The tones of sage green, golden ochre, off-white, and deep red create a harmony that is both gentle and structured. The material, worked in successive layers, brings depth and vibrancy to the surface.
Without representing an instrument or musical score in a literal sense, the work suggests a rhythmic organization where each form seems to occupy its place in a silent composition. Between geometric abstraction and poetic language, Sophie Dumont offers here a painting where balance, movement, and color compose their own inner music.
Unique work created in oil on canvas in 2026.
Frame options: natural wood or black. Signed on the front and back. Certificate of authenticity provided.
