Description
In Point d’ancrage, Sophie Dumont constructs an abstract composition around a pale blue circle, a point of visual stability within a dense assemblage of geometric shapes. Curves, angles, and flat areas interlock in an architecture that is both rigorous and moving.
The palette associates deep reds, bright oranges, ochres, dull greens, and blacks with large ivory areas. The blue of the central circle introduces an unexpected breath and immediately attracts the eye.
Realized in oil on canvas, mainly with a palette knife, the work reveals a rich material, made of successive layers, rubs, and scraped surfaces. The irregularities of the paint give the shapes a sensitive presence and distance the composition from any geometric coldness.
Point d’ancrage belongs to the geometric series of Sophie Dumont, in which the artist explores the relationships between structure, color, and inner balance.
Original and unique work, signed in the bottom right. Oil on canvas, 65 × 54 cm. Presented in a black American box. Possibility to request a wooden box
