Beschrijving
Sophie Dumont, a contemporary French painter, develops a unique body of work where matter, color, and structure interact in a controlled tension. Created in oil on canvas, this large-format composition (120 × 120 cm) is part of an exploration of interior architecture.
In Colors in Balance, forms are arranged in a rigorous composition where curves and verticals echo each other. A bold red arc traverses a subtly nuanced bluish central space, while ochre areas and dark masses anchor the composition. The whole rests on a fluid visual flow, without any breaks in the flow, where each color seems to find its place in a carefully constructed equilibrium.
The surface, worked in successive layers, reveals a richness of texture and chromatic vibrations. The transitions between hues are never static: they bear witness to a slow process, where each layer adjusts the previous one, until a perfect tension is achieved.
Between abstraction and mental construction, this work evokes a space that is both structured and sensitive, where color becomes the true principle of balance.
Framing possible in an American-style frame, in black or natural wood.
