Beschrijving
In Eloge de la lecture (In Praise of Reading), Sophie Dumont continues her exploration of stylized libraries, which have become her true signature over time.
The colored volumes, organized in strata, seem to form a visual score: each book becomes a note, each shade a vibration of memory.
The dominant blue and ocher, punctuated by subtle greens and reds, creates a luminous balance between calm and energy.
Through the density of the oil material, worked with a palette knife, the artist evokes the superposition of readings and thoughts, like strata of knowledge and time.
This composition, both structured and poetic, celebrates the silent beauty of books, the permanence of the act of reading, and the intimate dialogue between culture and emotion.
