Beschrijving
Between the horizons is a contemporary abstract landscape painted in oil on canvas by Sophie Dumont in 2026.
The composition unfolds horizontally in a succession of layers of grayish blue, terracotta, ochre, muted green, and broken white. These colored expanses evoke fragments of earth, water, and distant reliefs, without ever designating a specific place. Sophie Dumont does not seek to represent a real landscape, but to restore the memory of a space, the sensation of changing light, and the depth of a horizon that extends beyond the canvas.
The painting is built by successive layers, with palette knife and brush. Superimpositions, scrapes, and partial erasures reveal the previous colors and give the surface depth. The light areas open up the composition, while the terracotta accents and darker lines structure the rhythm.
Born near Paris in 1964, Sophie Dumont lives and works in Normandy. Her work explores memory, matter, landscape, and the architecture of pictorial space. Her paintings are in private collections around the world and have been exhibited in galleries and museum institutions.
Original and unique work, signed by the artist. It is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and presented in a floating frame made of natural wood, ready to be hung.
