Beschrijving
In the suspended studio, Sophie Dumont reinterprets the studio space as a place of dialogue between forms, materials, and colors. Geometric planes—leaning canvases, superimposed surfaces, flat, silent planes—seem to float in an architectural composition where the deep black of the lower part responds to the mineral tones of the upper part. Verdigris, anthracite, textured beiges, pastel pink, and softened ochre compose a subtle palette that creates a hushed atmosphere, imbued with calm light.
The material, worked in layers, reveals traces of the artist’s hand, revisions, and second thoughts, evoking the lengthy process of creation. Presented in a natural wood frame, the painting gains warmth and presence. This choice of frame highlights the structure of the work and underscores its connection to the artist’s studio, while simultaneously reinforcing its contemporary dimension.
