Beschrijving
Quant-à-soi offers a portrait whose expression relies on colors and posture. The slightly tilted head, the gaze-less face, and the asymmetrical proportions compose a reserved figure, which seems to keep its own inner space. The ivory, ochre, and light gray planes articulate with deep greens, oranges, and earthy reds. The almond green background unites the composition while allowing the silhouette to stand out. The oil painting, worked in successive layers with a palette knife, reveals scrapes and traces of previous colors. The material nuances the geometric construction and gives this anonymous character a sensitive presence. Original and unique work by Sophie Dumont, signed, presented in a black American box, ready to hang.
