Beschrijving
In this square-format work, Sophie Dumont explores the motif of the stylized library through a rhythmic composition of vertical and horizontal bands. Each book becomes a color, each slice a chromatic vibration.
The rich and contrasting palette combines warm tones (ochre, red, orange) with softer shades of green, beige and gray, creating a balanced dialogue between intensity and serenity. The oil work, applied in successive layers with a knife, gives the surface a dense and lively texture, where the material reveals its own depth.
Halfway between abstraction and figuration, this painting offers a poetic interpretation of the library: not as simple storage, but as a visual and interior construction, a space of memory and resonances.
Unique work, signed lower right, ready to hang.
Frame: American box in black wood or natural wood at the collector’s choice3
