Beschrijving
With “Temps calme” (Calm Time), Sophie Dumont offers an abstract work marked by restraint and balance. The composition is organized in horizontal layers that structure the pictorial space without ever enclosing it, evoking an inner landscape more suggested than represented.
The deliberately restrained palette combines mineral tones, softened ochres, and muted shades that converse in silent harmony. The chromatic transitions are subtle, revealing variations in texture that enrich the surface without disrupting the overall coherence.
The manipulation of materials through successive layers inscribes time at the heart of the canvas. Some areas seem to recede while others assert themselves, reflecting a slow and deliberate process. This stratification lends the work a calm depth, inviting the viewer to prolonged contemplation.
Temps calme (Calm Time) fits perfectly within Sophie Dumont’s approach, where abstraction becomes a sensitive language to evoke time, memory, and balance. A work with a discreet yet assertive presence, designed to engage in a lasting dialogue with the space that houses it.
